A day in the life of John Warner, Internal Content Executive

Jul 18th, 2016

It’s been a busy month, with award nominations for clients, some big new clients coming on board, a successful search conference and much more taking up everyone’s time, we’re therefore happy to introduce a last minute volunteer, John Warner – Click Consult’s internal content executive

Briefly describe your role

It’s my job to try to keep up to date on all of the latest developments in search marketing – across skill-sets, leaving me a kind of utility player – to understand them and then communicate them to the many hundreds of people that visit the Click Consult blog in a manner easily parsed by any level of experience. I also deal with other assorted ad-hoc client work as well as some of the excess inbound marketing work for clients.

What does a typical day involve?

There’s a fair amount of reading – I ensure I keep up to date on industry changes, hints, tips and best practices. There is, more often than not, an eBook that requires some attention or a blog of one variety or another to write. There can be anything from general site updates, important industry changes, email campaigns or last minute ‘getting to know you’ blogs to write when I get in in the morning, so there’s plenty of variety.

What do you think are the most important aspects of content writing?

Clarity and concision.

Which other teams do you interact with the most?

All of them to a greater or lesser extent depending on the content being planned for the quarter – though I know a fair amount, it’s always better to check with the experts before anything is released into the wild.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Clarity and concision.

Finally, we know you love literature – so we won’t ask you about it due to time constraints. Football?

Like all good scousers, I’m a semi-depressive Everton fan.
