Click Consult pay for a day of care at Claire House

Apr 17th, 2014

If you cast your mind back to February this year, you might remember our blog post about how we baked, kayaked, hiked, ran and raffled our way to raising a whopping £13, 000 for Claire House children’s hospice

With the cost of keeping the hospice open for 24 hours amounting to £6,500, the host of fun, creative and downright tough challenges we undertook raised enough pounds and pennies to fund a full two days of care at the hospice.

Well, today we bring you an update: this Friday (tomorrow), we sponsor the first of those two days and we’re feeling pretty honoured. Being able to support the dedicated staff at Claire House who provide palliative and end-of-life care to children and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions is a real privilege. Out of all the fundraising activities we undertook, even trudging knee-deep through mud and being stung by electric shocks during the Tough Mudder challenge was worth it  for this charity – they’re worth every mud-splattered moment.

On Friday, the money we raised will provide nursing care, medicine and equipment to help enrich the lives of the children and young adults at Claire House, as well as providing support and counselling for their families for as long as they need it. We’d like to thank everyone who sponsored our activities to help make this possible; it really has made a massive difference to people’s lives.

Our CEO, Matt Bullas, says: “It is a great privilege to support the hard work of the dedicated staff at Claire House through our fundraising achievements. We’re immensely honoured to help enrich the lives of children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses by funding two days of care at the hospice. We aim to fund a further three days of care through our next round of fundraising activities.”

The second of the two days we’re funding will take place later this year. Meanwhile, we’re working on organising our next round of fundraising activities to help us raise enough money to keep the hospice open for a full 72 hours. Wish us luck!
