The Drum’s Digital Census 2014 reveals the top-performing search marketing agencies in the UK

Sep 19th, 2014

The Drum’s annual digital census has been published this week, which ranks the best search marketing agencies in the UK by financial performance, region and peer recognition.

The census segments the top agencies out into categories of 1-25 staff, 26-50 staff, 51-99 staff and 100+ staff. Of course, we’ve been sifting through the figures looking at some of the UK’s top-performing search marketing agencies and we’re delighted to have been featured high up in the ranking tables.

With 48 full-time search marketing professionals working at Click, we sit in the 26-50 staff size category. Within this category, we’ve been ranked as one of the best-performing UK agencies within the search marketing industry based upon our finances, what our peers think of us and our regional performance.

In terms of our financial status, we’ve been ranked as the second top-performing agency out of 46 agencies. Indeed, our annual digital fee income of £5,200,106 in the most recent financial year has risen from £4,246,942 the previous financial year. That’s a growth of £953,164, placing us in joint second position with fellow search agencies Stink, Mason Zimbler and Linney Group. Also close to the top of the rankings in the financial poll for our category is Nice Agency, Doner and MMT Digital.

We’re delighted to have been voted as the 20th top-performing search agency in the UK by our peers – it’s great to see that our work is respected by other like-minded search marketers within our industry

Additionally, we’re delighted to have been voted as the 20th top-performing search agency in the UK by our peers. Indeed, one of the metrics that The Drum uses to gauge the success of agencies is peer recognition. Out of 42 search marketing agencies, we’ve been ranked in 20th place – it’s great to see that our work is respected by other like-minded search marketers within our industry. Other agencies that have been ranked highly by their peers include 4PS Marketing, Strawberry and Rockpool Digital.

Finally, the census has named our agency in the top five digital agencies in the north west of England. In fact, the north west is the best represented region in the UK and out of 27 digital agencies with a combined fee income of an impressive £76 million, we’re delighted to have made it into fifth place. Amaze, Great Fridays and McCann Manchester also made it into the top five.

Our CEO & Founder, Matt Bullas, said this morning: “This month has been one of many achievements for the team here at Click. We’ve been ranked as one of Econsultancy’s top 100 search marketing agencies, I’ve been voted as one of the top 50 most influential figures in the search marketing industry and now to be recognised by The Drum as one of the best-performing search marketing agencies in the UK is an honour. I’m incredibly proud of the exceptional skills in our team and it’s great to be recognised for the results we continue to deliver to our clients. As we continue to develop and grow as a business, myself and the team look forward to seeing where we rank next year…”
